the Marion Woodman Foundation and
BodySoul Rhythms®

The Marion Woodman Foundation established in 2001 is a nonprofit organization created to ensure the continuation of BodySoul Rhythms® in the world.  Created and refined over three decades by Marion Woodman, Mary Hamilton, and Ann Skinner, BodySoul Rhythms® work grew from C.G. Jung’s deep psychological insights and Marion Woodman’s passionate commitment to articulating the sacred feminine and bringing embodied consciousness into our lives.

The Marion Woodman Foundation is now a vibrant community of women and men dedicated to practicing and broadening the reach of BodySoul Rhythms®.  We continuously draw on the insights of C. G. Jung and Marion Woodman to bring the unconscious to consciousness and embracing the unlived life while enhancing, deepening, and making this work available to the world.

The Marion Woodman Foundation and BodySoul Rhythms® no longer sponsors workshops and training. BodySoul Rhythms® programs continue to be offered by those who have gone through a Leadership Training Program with the Marion Woodman Foundation.

A Legacy of BodySoul Rhythms®
Core Programs

The core of BodySoul Rhythms® work involved the exploration of dreams as well as participating in movement, experimenting with embodied voice work, creating masks, working with paint, clay and other mediums, and honoring ritual. Held in the sacred space created by the group, participants are encouraged to express and embody psyche’s energies, which may lead to the healing of old wounds and the emergence of new energies. Core programs consisted primarily of intensives which follow a specific curriculum developed by Jungian analyst Marion Woodman, choreographer and dancer Mary Hamilton, and voice and mask specialist Ann Skinner. This curriculum was refined continuously over several decades, during which time they were joined by Paula Reeves, Meg Wilbur, and Tina Stromsted. A Leadership Training Program began, which included Nietzsche seminars and intensives co-facilitated by the Founding faculty, and Meg, Tina, and Dorothy Anderson. Over the years, the Faculty evolved and Community workshops continue to grow in many communities and countries, including BodySoul Global.

The intensive format, which Marion compared with an initiation, combines myth and story, dream work, group discussion, experiential exercises, voice work, movement, and expressive arts, allowing participants to experience the work and its transformative power in an embodied way. Marion Woodman Foundation Seminars and Workshops are shorter programs focusing on specific elements of BodySoul® work as described above. Marion Woodman Foundation BodySoul Rhythms®, seminars and workshops follow the curriculum, structure, and format developed by the original team.
